Through out the game, there will be free passes award to the opposite teams for many reasons such as obstruction, footwork, off side or possession of the ball for longer than three seconds. A penalty pass is award when one player obstructs or contacts another. A penalty pass or shot can be taken by any player allowed in that area. When the pass or shot is taken, the offending player must stand beside the person taking it, and is not allowed to take part in the game until the shot or pass has been taken. When two opposite players are at fault then the umpire does a " throw up " between the two players. A throw up is where each player stands at least 1 metre apart from each other whilst the umpire throws the ball up in the middle of the two players. The player who catches the ball first, has possession of the game.
